Hi! I’m Mike Dory.
I’m a master’s candidate at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunictions Program (ITP) in the Tisch School of the Arts.
I studied journalism and English at Rutgers University, and then careered in high-tech communications, working with the likes of IBM, Nikon USA and GE, which nicely supported my other adventures as a designer, writer, musician, and professional coffee addict. I’ve more recently found myself working as an interaction, sound and occasional web designer for companies like Sony, Liberty Science Center and the Museo del Acero.
At ITP, my research has focused on urban computing, networked objects, interactive architecture, sustainable energy, emergent networks, big games, audio art, and a bunch of other things that beep and blink.
My projects, writing and photography have appeared in such outlets as the New York Times, National Public Radio, New York Magazine, Gothamist, BoingBoing, CNET, Gizmodo and MAKE Magazine.
I’m also the happy co-owner of BentoBox Studios, an independent recording and design shop.
More about all that on my Resume.
