projects (0)Sound changing space changing sound. Pusher/Puller is a architecturally-inspired physical device for pushing and pulling sound -- an interactive architecture prototype. The device is meant to both stand on its own, reacting to what it hears, and provide control over the audio environment for the users. By pushing and pulling the points along the shape's exterior, users will be able to change the parameters of filters, delays, buffers, etc., allowing them to "play" the sounds around them as music. projects (0)Using a computer is seldom a happy, heart-warming experience -- usually it's somewhere between a marriage of convince and an all-out throwdown fight. This of course wears heavily on computer users, who are increasingly becoming stressed, isolated and generally unhappy. What I'm hoping to do with this project is re-inject human contact into the stressed user's day, triggering a phone call when too many unhappy words are typed. This phone call will feature one of several pre-recorded cheer-up messages, encouraging the user that everything is okay in the world. Additionally, by pulling the user away ...

projects (0)I was fortunate enough to spend some time this summer with Mouna Andraos, Jennifer Broutin, and Carmen Trudell at Eyebeam, working on ideas for the Alternative Energy Workshop (which went down on June 23rd), and from it came a killer idea: the personal powerPlant. People were coming to take the workshop in hopes of getting a better idea of how to work with sustainable energy, and what better way to show people how it all comes together than have them build a lil’ personal generator, right?
