Arduino just sassed me

I’m not kidding. This is the error message I just got for trying to re-save a file:

TOOL AND DIE!!!

Okay, so that’s actually a term for a machinist shop, but doesn’t that sound like something you’d shout at someone you really hated?
Anyhoo…

Analog In, Seacrest Out.

Just talking about Arduino, y’all. pComp’in this week meant writing an analog in code and wiring up der breadboard for it. Actually, after the past few weeks of pComp classes and a few sessions of the Ben Chao Will Teach You How To Wire Stuff Right tutorial, I’m getting this faster and faster.

King of the jukebox

Andy Maskin just told me I’ve surpassed all past leaders to now be the number-one abuser of the ITP jukebox, holding the highest number of requests. Rock-and-effing-roll!

Update: Photobooth watching

Note: this was posted last week, but I’ve added to it and re-tweaked it with some images and additional thoughts — thought it was only fair to change the timestamp.

This week’s assignment for pComp had us working in groups, observing… stuff. The requirements for the assignment were to watch something, anything, very very [...]

HelpTank goes (kinda-sorta) live

I will first admit that this I’d originally titled this post “Interactive? Interawesome!” but then realized it was the worst post title EVER, but I laughed so hard when I thought of it that I figured I almost had to use it. Anyhoo.
Part of the biggest bigness of this program is the first-year [...]

Mechanical thinkings and altered images

So for this week, we were to read “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction” by Walter Benjamin and comment on it. First off, this is just another “why this program rules” point, in that I was arguing about this subject with a friend about two weeks before starting at ITP, [...]

I’m trying to eat healthier

…so I just had a gooey apple pastry covered in frosting and a decaf coffee for dinner.
Sweet tooth - 1
Mike’s health - 0
*sigh*

pComp Lab - 09.23.06

It works!!!

Ben C. has shown me the error of my ways, and in this case, my error amounts to a confused high and low setup. Swapped the order of some wiring, and the previously-broken circuit now goes blinkyblinky, either green (if the wires touch) or yellow (if they don’t).
Phew. I feel like much [...]

New toy!

Sick of constantly running around the pComp lab/shop to try to get tools which in the end only half-work anyway. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m (A) super-duper thankful that there’s anything I have free access to, and (B) well aware that there are amazing tools, and I’m just too late to get to [...]
