As I keep plugging away at creating a user-test-able interface for my new oven design, I’ve changed things around qutie a bit. In some ways, I’ve ramped up (added more to the visualization, made the code a bit more sophisticated) and in some ways I’ve scaled back (the suggestions of my group to add knobs/dials may have to wait).

Yes, yes, I’m a Photoshop wizard — say it! SAY IT!!! …or laugh. Anyhoo, it’s a start, and it will hopefully provide something that the user can take one look at and instantly both understand and tie to the physical interface before him/her.
If I had time, I’d consider adding knobs in the form of stuff like this, but for now, I’m just tapped out doing the keypad alone.
And now on to the actual program…
