Crickets written up on Octopart

The nice folks who write the Octopart blog did a really sweet feature on my Concrete Crickets, which is visible hurr. They’ve actually got a bunch of cool features coming on their blog and news sections, I’m told, so that’s exciting news as well.

    Im curious, the camoflage.
In the neighborhood I work an aluminium can on the sidewalk would have a “life expectancy” in minutes. its kind of like wrapping the circuit board in cash to camoflage it. I would suggest something more industrial, ie a small junction box stuck to a wall, a hollowed out brick. a broken piece of concrete.

Yeah, that’s something that I have come very quickly to realize is going to be a serious problem. The initial design for these creatures was more along the guerrilla/graffiti lines, so I was thinking something that you turn on and leave behind, but I’m pursuing a direction closer to the one you’ve mentioned here — more urban/industrial kind of things that don’t suggest “hey, steal me!”

Thanks for the thought though — now to just make it *work*.
