Adam, Scott and I had the distinct pleasure of heading out to O’Reilly OSCon a week back and running a tutorial on open-source hardware, specifically your friend and mine — Arduino!

The tutorial went really well, and was a blast to do. We went through the basics of how and why one might interface with microcontrollers, and then took the class on a quick tour of the Arduino platform from both hardware and software sides. The participants learned how to make their boards blink LED’s, read switches and potentiometers, and communicate over the serial port, making etch-a-sketches on their laptops as a final project. The group was fantastic, and by the end of the session were already adding their own touches and starting their next projects.

The official summary is here, and MAKE Magazine gave us a nice lil’ shout too. I so love O’Reilly conferences.

While we were out there, we ran by Facebook’s F8 event as well, which was a blast (and quite informative, seeing the launch of their Connect platform and all). PC World was running around covering the event, and happened to ask yours truly about their news. It was a crazy little event, and I was stoked to see it.
Now, we’re back in NYC and back to work — expect news from us on excellent SB happenings in the very near future.
